Why Has LinkedIn Become Facebook?

In June 2015 I wrote a post talking about how these days it’s harder to do business on LinkedIn than it used to be. I mentioned how people who seemingly reach out saying they want to work with you actually want you to work for them… for free! I talked about how I rarely get anyone reaching out to me to do business for them where I’ll get paid, and I mentioned how people will reach out to ask me for advice; I don’t mind that last part.

I also wrote a post some time ago about social media mistakes people make, which included mentioning how it seems that a lot of people these days are acting like trolls on LinkedIn, a site that’s supposed to be for business purposes. I can’t understand how those people think someone will see some of the things they say and think “Ooohhh, I can’t wait to work with this person”; wouldn’t be me!

Why People Are Mad At You For Your Social Media Willful Ignorance

Over the last week or so, I keep hearing about this concept of free speech and how everyone has a right to say whatever they want without being castigated for it. I’ve written about freedom of speech for many years, and I decided to share my thoughts about it here; stick with me for a few minutes.

this looks great; challenge me!

In the United States, everyone has the right to express their opinion. What everyone doesn’t have a right to do is state their opinion and not have someone else disagree with it if they choose to. It’s the reason why so many people can love the movie Frozen (count me in) and a few can say they think it’s overrated. It’s the reason why so many young girls love Justin Bieber to the end of the world and others hate his guts (I don’t have an opinion either way).

Scheduling Posts On Twitter Via Tweeten; My Process

In March of 2015 I wrote an article titled Promoting Yourself In Social Media; My Personal Study. In that post I talked about how I was doing a lot of things to try to get myself noticed more. That’s because I know I need more traffic coming to my blogs and website, and I wanted more people to recognize me as someone who might know something about blogging, social media, leadership, etc.

I mentioned how things had been progressing for me, and a lot of it had to do with Twitter. At that time I mentioned that my traffic had gone up 15%. I can tell you that, in a comparison of the period I compared to after my initial test that my traffic has gone up 35%; that’s not so bad. Twitter is now my 4th largest referrer overall but my #1 referrer from social media; that’s pretty cool right?

5 Ways Having A Blog Is More Important Than Social Media

Let’s start with an audacious statement; blogging is a big deal. It’s probably a bigger deal than having a website; it’s definitely bigger than marketing on social media. If that doesn’t counter all the talk about blogging being dead, I’ve got nothing more to offer you.

However, if you’ve stuck around to see where I’m going with this, I appreciate your giving me the chance to make my point and hopefully convince you to at least see what I’m saying. You don’t have to agree with me… although that wouldn’t depress me any.
