I used to be really productive. I had periods where I could write upwards of 10 articles a day. Once I wrote 19 articles in one day; short articles but all on different topics. Part of that explains why the first 3 years of this blog saw me writing 300 articles a year. It’s taken me 9 years to write the other 900; isn’t that a shame?
I wasn’t only writing at the time. I had a blog commenting regiment where I made sure to comment on at least 10 blogs a day, including weekends. It was part of my marketing and publicity strategy; it worked wonders.

When I wrote my post last July asking if social media is causing our children to lose their compassion, I couldn’t have predicted anything like this kid (22 years old but still a kid) posting a video of a dead body from a suicide forest in Japan on YouTube. It wasn’t even that which was the worst part; supposedly once he saw it he started making jokes about it (I’ve refused to watch it but I feel like I know everything about it).

This is a story that, oddly enough got worse later on but for a much different reason. Although YouTube decided to suspend him (a week after he pulled the video himself from his channel), his subscribers jumped almost 3 million higher than the 15 million already following his antics. It turns out the majority of his fans are young kids who, for some “unknown reason” (bad parenting) can’t figure out why the overwhelming majority of us think showing a suicide victim’s body and making jokes about it is wrong.

Yesterday I witnessed the piling on of someone who commented on a Facebook post by a friend of mine. It started out innocently enough… kind of, as my friend posted a graphic relating to politics. She included a one-line statement, it was pretty innocuous, but left itself open to interpretation.
That’s diet soda!
A couple people responded in agreement with what the image showed. But… wait for it… pretty soon someone else responded who wasn’t totally feeling what everyone else was saying. It wasn’t that she disagreed with the image as much as the “implication” that it meant “all” people like her… which no one had actually said.

Back in 2008 I joined Twitter. I wasn’t sure what it was all about, but back then I experimented a lot with things so I could write about them here. After about a month I wasn’t sure I was a fan of the platform, but but a couple of months later I started seeing its appeal.
The year 2008 was a very intriguing year for America. That’s the year Barack Obama was running for president against John McCain, and though I really wasn’t overly interested initially (which would have shocked me 10 years earlier), I knew early who I’d be voting for.
