I originally wrote this article almost exactly 5 years ago. I was recently asked about plugin recommendations, and I realized I’d only written one article specifically recommending more than just one plugin at a time. I shared this article, but realized that three of the plugins on this list are things I wouldn’t recommend any longer.
Those two plugins are WordPress Firewall, Compfight and WebReader for Word Press. The first started messing with a couple of my blogs so it had to go. The second pretty much stopped working, which meant you had to go to their site to continue using the images they were highlighting from Flickr that you could use (go to Pixabay to find free images instead). The third might still be fine but the company went to a paid model and, though I’m not necessarily against paying for certain things, it turned out not to be mobile friendly so I discontinued using it. On a fluke a few days ago, I was checking out my business blog on my smartphone. I can’t remember what made me take a look, but I’m really glad I did.

For some reason, it wasn’t showing up properly on my phone. It was showing my blogging site, which would normally be good, but it was supposed to be showing the version of my site the way WP-Touch makes it look to improve its mobile speed. I’m promising something different after this blog post, although it’s only going to occur on this blog post. I’m allowing every comment that shows up on this article to stay here so others can see how much spam I often get. I hope most of the people who comment (if they comment) are legitimate, but I’m not holding my breath. This means I’ll be pulling a lot of articles out of the pending area; I hate wasting my time, but I’m using it as a teaching moment.

A few weeks ago I came across a video where the owner of the YouTube channel was recommending that all of us should do an audit of our YouTube channels. Her belief was that all of us should find out what our visitors have viewed the most and try to find ways to create more content around those topics.
