The first time I wrote about gravatars, also known as avatars, was back in 2008. I wrote specifically about them in 2009, and again in 2013. Then, over the course of 7 years I’ve mentioned them from time to time, but I haven’t written specifically about them.

Someone asked me about it and indicated he didn’t know how to get one. On a fluke a few days ago, I was checking out my business blog on my smartphone. I can’t remember what made me take a look, but I’m really glad I did.

For some reason, it wasn’t showing up properly on my phone. It was showing my blogging site, which would normally be good, but it was supposed to be showing the version of my site the way WP-Touch makes it look to improve its mobile speed. I’m promising something different after this blog post, although it’s only going to occur on this blog post. I’m allowing every comment that shows up on this article to stay here so others can see how much spam I often get. I hope most of the people who comment (if they comment) are legitimate, but I’m not holding my breath. This means I’ll be pulling a lot of articles out of the pending area; I hate wasting my time, but I’m using it as a teaching moment.
