Before I get into today’s topic, I’d like to break a blogging taboo (I’m always doing that) to highlight the fact that last Friday was the 15th anniversary of my being self employed. If you know me (which you would if you’re a regular visitor), you know that I wrote about it. I titled it 15 Years Of Self Employment; 3 Things You Need To Know, and not only did I give some information on that but I also created a video that went live on the same day that’s embedded on the same post. Want to know how I decided to go into business for myself and why I do all the things I do? Check it out, comment, share and give me a bit of love on it. I don’t ask often but hey, how many people make it 15 years working on their own? 🙂
After 8 months of working out of town, my wife finally showed up Friday night, driving over 3 days from Arkansas back to New York. I helped her bring lots of stuff into the house, as she has no concept of light packing.
One of the things she brought home from the road was a 32″ flat screen HD TV, which I convinced her to let me set up in the living room with the caveat that I’d donate the Sony blu-ray DVD player I bought while I was on the road. Back in 2009 I wrote a post titled How I Write Blog Posts. I talked about the process I go through when I’m trying to figure out what I want to write and how I want to write it. I’ve also given lots of tips on blogging in general.
I thought those things were fairly simple and would help a lot of people out. Yet over the years I see more people who write comments saying they can’t figure out how I have the time to do any writing at all, let alone all the writing and other things I do. Truthfully, writing is the easy part; the rest of it isn’t always so smooth. Continue reading Scheduling Time To Blog, Write, Work And Live→
I often download podcasts and interviews but don’t always find the time to listen to them. I’d loaded a bunch of them onto my phone, but I could never find them. I finally figured out about 3 weeks ago how to access those files, and once I finished a couple of the recorded books I had I decided to listen to a couple of them. Continue reading How Are You? I’ve got to admit that sometimes I wonder if I have a mean streak. I wondered that after I added an addendum to my last post on spam where I gave the information of the guy who’s paid someone twice to leave a spam comment on my blog… the same comment, including the same comment I highlighted in the post; ugh!
I thought about it after I did it, then I came to a conclusion; nope, not one bit! Sometimes you have to call a duck a duck even if it’s swimming in gold coins (y’all know that one lol). If it’s purporting itself to be something it’s not, and we’re drawn in by it, then it deserves to be called out for disappointing us. Continue reading Misleading Titles, Disappointing Blog Content→
