How Much Can You Control Access To Your Facebook Information?

Well, stuff is definitely hitting the fan now, isn’t it Facebook? You get called out when the world gets alerted that you messed up by allowing a company named Cambridge Analytica to access all sorts of personal information from around 2 billion people (ouch!), then you get called out because you’re possibly calls, texts, contacts and calendar of your mobile users, and then you went and made my friend Holly mad enough to delete Facebook for good… again. Y’all are in it deep now!

Actually, where privacy is concerned, most of us are in a morass in many ways. Not only us but our family members, some of whom aren’t even on the platform. That’s because it’s all tied into other properties like Instagram, those pages you visit that Facebook is connected to… on and on… as well as our participation on Facebook; shame on us… maybe…

Sweet Sixteen Blogging Tips

Some of you may know that I live in the Syracuse, NY area. Some of you who watch NCAA basketball might know that over this past weekend many college teams played in the NCAA tournament to get into the Sweet Sixteen, which means the last 16 teams in the tournament. Those who watched know that my team, the Syracuse Orange men’s team, won 3 games last week, being the underdog in each one of them, and is in the Sweet Sixteen again… after getting there 2 years ago. 🙂

I want one of these for 2018

Because of that, I decided to do a blogging tips post where I’m going to mention 16 sweet blogging tips that might help you become a better blogger… or at least a happier blogger. Some of these I’ve probably mentioned in previous posts; after all, I’ve been writing for just over 10 years and I have over 550 posts out of just under 1,800 posts specifically on blogging.

Commit To Your Craft And Business

I did something Saturday that I’d been planning to do weeks ago. I went out for lunch, got a big table rather than my usual, pulled out my templates and paper and started working on my business plan. I’ve been wanting to do this since the beginning of the year but I kept letting other things get in the way.

Passion Planner

I’m going to talk about my process, share one of my goal and the process I’m hoping to follow to achieve it by using something called the Passion Planner. Just so you know, I’m not getting paid for talking about the planner; I don’t even know if they have an affiliate program. This isn’t a full review of it; just how I’m using it now.

Why I Share Few Group List Posts

Just over a year ago I wrote an article titled 5 Reasons Why I Probably Won’t Share A Guest Post From Your Blog. Obviously I highlighted 5 reasons why I wouldn’t do it while still highlighting a few guest posters in the article. I’m someone who has my principles, and I stick by them. I also have reasons why I do things; whether anyone likes them or not, they’re still my reasons.

Now it’s time to talk about this thing I’m calling “group list posts”. In essence, these are posts where someone is addressing a certain topic and then either gets opinions from a lot of people or designates the “top” whomever based on their own criteria… which is usually no criteria, just opinion.

Make Money Blogging? I Have No Idea… Maybe…

We all know there are a lot of blogs out there that promise to teach you how to make money online. You can bet that 99% of them aren’t making anything significant. Sure, there are folks like Pat Flynn who are making tons of money; I believe Donna Merrill‘s probably making livable money… if not more (I’ll let her tell you if she ever sees this lol).

after I finish this corndog

Truth be told, I’m not sure how to make money anymore by blogging. I say “not sure” because at a couple of different points I was making a nice bit of “side money”. I was averaging around $600 a month with this blog and later around $300 a month on my finance blog. Two years ago I was averaging around $250 a month on my medical billing website/blog; now it’s down to $100 every 4 months (curse you Google!). That’s certainly not livable money, but it was great making some extra cash without having to work very hard for it.
