I'm an independent consultant in many fields, so I have a lot to share.

The “Reply All” Catastrophe Of Twitter

If you’re a Twitter user and not a part of what’s known as “Follow Friday” or “#FF“, I’ll bet you’re tired of seeing those types of messages. You’re lucky if you see either of those two phrases above because those are easily blocked; I’ll come back to that in a minute or two.

Twitter reply all

If you reply “all” she’s eating this!

If you don’t see either of those particular missives but you’re still included in a group notification with lots of other Twitter folks you probably don’t know, you’ve found yourself in the Twitter version of “reply all” that almost everyone cringes at as a consequence of a group email.

“Great Content” Redux

You’re getting an article, a link to another article and a video; what more could anyone want? This is an updated article that I originally wrote in 2014… that only got one comment from someone who still exists (which I’ve left). It needed to be updated and seen because even more people are talking about writing great concept as a suggestion for getting more visitors. Let’s delve into that for a quick moment.

I found this interesting years ago and still find it interesting now. With all the talk about writing great content that I saw and still see on many blogs, I never see anyone talking about what great content is supposed to be.

I actually wrote a post about what high quality content, was supposed to be back in 2011. The problem with the article is that Google never listed it for some reason; even now it can’t be found, regardless of whether I put it in quotation marks or not. I’m 9th on Duck Duck Go; see why I like them so much. 🙂

A Fine Line Between Courage And Irritating Marketing

Some years ago I talked about promotions and marketing and how it can be a challenge to get more notoriety. You’re trying to get more notoriety so you can either get more readers to your blog or get more people buying things from you. I responded to all the comments of course, but I continue to think about this because, well… let’s face this fact.

All of us want “more” something. If we didn’t want something we wouldn’t bother blogging to begin with. I’m of the opinion that if all you wanted to do was vent without anyone commenting or bothering you that you could go the old school way, as I used to do; just journal things, put it on your shelf and move on with life. That way you not only put all your thoughts down on paper, thus clearing your mind, but you can throw it away later on and never look at it again, or keep it for posterity in case you have the guts to look at it many years later and are either amazed or scared of what you wrote at that time (I read one of mine once and never did it again!).

Lauren Greutman Interview – Coupons & Budgeting

This is something special. I’ve been connected with Lauren Greutman of Lauren Greutman (she used to be “I Am That Lady”) for some years now but actually only met her a couple of times in person. She’s a lovely person and very talented and definitely knows how to make her money work for her.

Lauren Greutman

She co-hosted a local Syracuse TV show for a couple of years called Bridge Street, and still does financial segments for them but she’s literally everywhere. From hanging out with Rachel Ray to Koda and Kathie Lee, she’s literally become the frugal living authority on a national level with her mantra “Take back control of your money, and create a simpler, happier life!” She has two books out, one called The Recovering Spender and the other titled How to Coupon Effectively. Neither of those are affiliate links, so check them out at your leisure.

Why I Won’t Share Your Guest Post Or Your Expert Articles

There have been guest posts since I started real blogging over 14 years ago. Back then they actually used to mean something; these days they’re mainly throwaway pieces that don’t actually say anything.

not sharing guest posts

standing up for principles

The same goes for posts where someone’s asked a bunch of experts their opinion on a topic and asks them for 3 things they’d recommend to others. It’s grown a lot since the first posts showed up about 10 years ago but I have the same gripe about most of them. Once again, throwaway pieces that don’t say much of anything. I’ll explain more about this in a minute or two.
