I'm an independent consultant in many fields, so I have a lot to share.

Why Don’t More People Comment On Blogs?

On Twitter a couple of months ago, a local business consultant I know said “no one comments on blogs anymore,” to which I responded “I commented on yours yesterday.” He came back with “no one comments on blogs anymore but you.” In my mind I disagreed… but had to think about it for a bit.

commenting on blogs
he’s got opinions

I get comments on almost every blog post I put out. On this blog in 2019, only one of my posts (talking about promotion no less) didn’t get a comment. But I have had a couple of posts that only got one or two comments; that’s disappointing. Still, I did have one post this year that got 22 comments; I’ll take what I can get.

Optimizing Old Blog Posts

Over the course of time, I’ve embarked on a project I hope helps this blog grow in online prominence. To date I don’t believe it’s helped all that much, but I think it’s important anyway. The goal is threefold in nature, with not each thing I’m doing directly impacting anything.

The first thing I’m trying to do is go back through posts with images from Flickr via a plugin I used in the past called Compfight. When Compfight crashed and burned, it didn’t take the images with it, thank goodness. What it did do was add a bit of cold that never existed previously and made the text beneath the image alter the look of the post so that it looked like amateur hour.

Five Personal Lessons On Health Care

I know what you’re thinking; why is Mitch talking about health care? I’ll answer this in two ways. Whereas it’s not my normal topic, truth is I am a health care finance consultant, I’m a caregiver, and I’ve been a patient here and there. Sometimes one has to diversify their blogs and speak on a topic that hits them; this is that time for me.

Mom and Me

Mom and me

Suffice it to say, over the last 10 years or so each of us have had some kind of health care scare. It happens as you get older; truths have to be told. Not all of them have been serious, but a couple have been.

What I’ve Seen On Online Since I Started Blocking Javascript On My Browser

Years ago, when I wrote my post about blocking newsletter popups, I was feeling pretty smug because I was finally getting back at all those sites that throw popups at you before you ever get to see the content. In the years since, I’ve noticed some things that I thought I’d talk about as a follow up to that original post.

Happy Mitch

First, I’m still a very happy guy. Those of you who visit here know that my ultimate pet peeve when it comes to visiting blogs are annoying popups. Turns out turning off javascript blocks a lot of other nasty bits from other types of sites beyond just blogs; I’m not mad in the least!

How To Gain Access To Your C: Drive On Windows 10

The last time I talked about Windows 10, it was after an update wiped out my operating system. Because I never thought about going to the Microsoft Store in town, I ended up loading Windows 7 instead and I moved on from there.

How we view our hard drives

Recently I read where all updates to Windows 7 were ending, and I decided it was time to go back to Windows 10. However, I also didn’t want automatic updates anymore, so I bought Windows 10 Professional. I got it at a discount; y’all know I wasn’t about paying $199 for it after all these years! 🙂
