Website Marketing Tool Book; Price Increased

Posted by Mitch Mitchell on Dec 15, 2008

About a month ago, I wrote this post saying that the price of my ebook, Using Your Website As A Marketing Tool, would be going up on December 1st.

Well, that was before I was suddenly on the road, and flying all over the place. But no matter; as of today, the price of the book has increased, and I did make one small change, bringing it up to $20.00 instead of $21.00; I just liked the even number better.

Of course, I know that I’m dealing with the top of the bunch here, which means some of you would have figured out how to go back to previous blog posts, if you were interested in buying the book to begin with, and just click on one of those links, hoping for the lower price. Nope, you’re not dealing with a chimp here. I’ve gone back and corrected all those prices and entries also. This wasn’t part of the maintenance day stuff I was talking about, unfortunately, but fortunately, it came to me later, so I did it and I’ve pre-timed this post for later.

Anyway, there you are; I’ve stuck with what I said I was going to do, albeit a little late. Sometimes, that’s just what we have to do, right?

So, kind of a recap of what the book is about and who’s for, even though you could learn that on the squeeze/sales page. This book is for small business owners or new internet marketing people who either don’t have a web presence or have one but they’re not sure what to do with their website. It talks about all the things needed to create a website; it talks about how to put content on your website for your marketing purposes; it talks about how you can take credit card payments if you have a website; what makes a website look professional versus amateurish. It’s not a hard read on purpose, because it’s not meant to be hard to understand. It’s detailed without being detailed; it covers everything well enough so it can be understood, without being so high brow that you can’t do anything with it. Anything you need to know about marketing your business with your website is here.

So, take a look at the sales page, and if this is the assistance you need, this book is for you.

Hey man, good work – hope it brings in some extra revenue for you. I think though you might get some more sales with a more ‘designer’ cover. I believe it would help draw people into being interested about the book, and then make them read more about it. Obviously its probably hard for you to do that as your away at the moment, but you could always hire it out – shouldn’t cost more than $20 I wouldnt have thought!

Hi Dan. I’m not much of a designer, and I also wouldn’t know whether I’d like what someone else did or not. As you’ve seen in viewing my “real” book, I didn’t have much of a design on that one either. Still, my thoughts overall are that people can’t really be swayed that much by a book cover on what they know is an ebook, can they? It’s never been what’s gotten my attention, to tell you the truth. Now, real books, in the bookstore,… oh yeah!

Ah, I think we are coming from two different schools of thought then – I am of the opinion that, yes while content will make the sell in the end, that a poorly designed eBook cover can lead people to think ‘what if the book is like that?’. Also, a well designed cover can catch the eye, and make the reader want to know more about it.

Essentially I believe in order to secure a solid sale, people should not be negative towards any aspect of your pitch – be it layout, design or content.

Just my thoughts on the matter, no critism intended :)

I know, Dan, and the debate is an interesting one. Truthfully, I don’t think it’s designed badly, just minimally. I did use one of those book programs, and that’s what it came out as. I thought about not using a book at all, only with text (I’m not sure if you’ve gone to the main sales page or not), because I’ve purchased many of these things without a book, and I still may end up going that route later on.
