As for where I get my knowledge, a lot of it was trial and error, but some of it is from the wealth of reading I do. I follow a lot of blogs, do a lot of research for different reasons, and luckily I speed read. Still, there's plenty I don't know how to do; just not enough time to try it all. One never knows where an interviewer is going to take you, so you'd best be ready to think of things on the fly. I got a lot of people who wrote me on Twitter about things from that conversation; kind of stunned since I wasn't sure how many people were actually listening in. I do throw people with my voice; I don't have any real dialect, probably from moving around a lot, even after being in central New York for over 30 years; heck, I'm not sure the people here have a native dialect.
