If you are going to increase your blogs on your BR, remember to check once in a while that they are valid and still exist. Last nite I found a couple of mine invalid and I had them removed. BTW, I’ve added your blog on my blorgoll.

First, I never “worry” about PR. In fact I’m a very strong advocate for NOT worrying about it. LOL

Second, one of the truths behind the myth is that (toolbar) PR has very little, if anything to do with SERP placement.

Does anyone else feel like this should be taken on Oprah or something? LMAO!

My point on “our level” was that blogs work differently than regular websites. At least for me, I know there’s few people looking up my blog name unless they’ve heard about it, whereas maybe they’d look up a portion of your blog name. But worrying about page rank when page rank isn’t driving our numbers can be confining.

Yep WP, and yes the blogrolls are automatically do follow with now way to change it.

No definitive word on what? Do follow leaks PR (assuming you have any to leak), that’s it’s whole reason for being.

I also don’t get why “our level” has anything to do with do follow links leaking PR…you don’t need thousands of readers, each link out will do it.

I don’t think you have a WP blog, or do you, Dennis? I ask because I didn’t decide whether the blogroll was do or nofollow; it just seems to automatically be dofollow, but I wouldn’t have much problem with it either way.

I think my general point overall, and I’m going to write a post about it all, is that there’s no definitive word one way or another about so much of this stuff. At our level right now, worrying about it seems illogical because we’re not getting many thousands of visitors a month, nor are we generating even a few hundred dollars a month on our blogs. To worry about stuff like that now,… well, more in the post.

There are oh so MANY rumors flying about in regards to Google/Paid links and not slapping high powered blogs…and they’re probably true, but what to do?

Or should we even care? Not me. If anything it’s more of an incentive to become one of them higher powers

As for me, there will be no do follow linkage on my sidebars until my PR is (back) to a 3 or higher…a little more wiggle room to *give*.

Speaking strictly personally, I give P L E N T Y of link love within content (best kind) in comments and so forth..with more to come for sure.

If someone is actually going to get upset that their friggin sidebar link is no follow, they can simply unsubscribe and no hard feelings

This was a general rant/statement, not meant towards any individual

I noticed that, Sire. I’ve wondered what you use to track blogs you follow. I guess also that I miss seeing people you might follow, and have been surprised when I show up on someone’s site for the first time and see your name there. I might have found that person way earlier if I’d seen them on your blogroll.

Okay, that’s a much different issue, and I thought about that one as I was going to bed. At a certain point, I guess we all have to think about what it is we want more, traffic or PR. Whereas I’d love to have both, the truth is that most blogs that are only blogs don’t have a high PR, and never will because of the nature of blogs. The highest one I’ve ever seen ranked is Problogger’s, whose got a 6, but he has so much more on his site that it’s not only a blog anymore. Same with Shoemoney; conglomerate bloggers in that they’re teams and not necessarily solo anymore.

By the way, I notice Shoemoney also has, prominently placed at the top of his site, a banner ad for a Text Link Ads company; I find that interesting, based on a conversation taking place on someone else’s blog.

Hi Mitch, I’m not one to overly use my blogroll, although I do list my blogs and those of some of my blogging friends.

I do on the other hand have a link directory so that those who are interested can exchange links.
