Some Funny Videos

Okay, time for a short breather, with all the posts I’ve been writing lately. So, here are three videos that are funny in their own right, so I don’t have to say anything except watch.

This first video is a pimp who decided to mess with the wrong guy:

This second video is a scene from an episode of Family Guy, where Peter was finding his “feminine” side:

This last funny video is from the Broadway musical Avenue Q; I’m expecting Sire to fully agree with this one:

And, if I may, I’d like to throw in one that’s not funny, but motivational, and heck, I just love this song, Josh Groban’s You Are Loved:

Family Guy is the best…I always get a good laugh.

I’ve been meaning to do a post on their writing style as I believe its a great example of the type of writing that wins in blog posting.

BTW: I wonder what Jennifer Laycock thinks of this one

Okay Caleb, I don’t understand the Jennifer Laycock reference, but Family Guy is easily one of my favorite cartoons of all time. They had a blog for about a minute, but I don’t think they knew what to do with it so it faded away for awhile.

I referenced Jennifer bcz she first got shine from getting bullied by the ~~pork~~swine industry for her “Breast Milk-The Other White Milk” campaign…

…but yea, Family Guy rules and is actually funnier than most of the real life sitcoms on TV!

I’d forgotten about that, Caleb. People were really wrong to jump on her for that one, and I think I wrote on her blog at the time that I supported her, though I really don’t remember now.

Boyz II Men:

Avenue Q is amazing. I’ve never seen the musical but the music itself is awesome.

I’m going to break the curve here and say, I think Family Guy is overrated. I find the writing to often rely on cheap tactics that just don’t seem funny to me (all the “that’s like the time I…” jokes)

Matt, that’s the best part! If you had a longer history (you ARE kind of young) you’d love most of the things they come up with. For instance, one of their episodes this year contained the song “The Bird Is The Word”, which was from the 60′s, and a Geto Boys rap song and video that was very controversial from 1991. You’re what, possibly 20? The references mean more to us “older folks” than they would for you. It’s actually very creative stuff.

As for Avenue Q, I also haven’t seen it, and I don’t have an excuse because I was in NYC for 3 months back in 2006, and it was right across the street from Cold Stone Creamery, where I was at least twice a week.

Hrm Mitch, even if I wouldn’t catch some of the references, I still think a lot of the work done by Family Guy is poor humor. It’s more in their delivery. I like when you can incorporate humor into the actual narrative, whereas Family Guy seems to rely too heavily on these bits where they stop the show and have “flashbacks.”

I guess each of us has to define their own humor, Matt. I happen to dislike Jim Carrey, yet many people like his humor. Not crazy about Vince Vaughn either. But I was manic for John Belushi and Eddie Murphy back in the day. Family Guy isn’t for everyone; I guess that’s why we’re lucky to have choice, eh?

OK, the cartoon nipple nearly had me getting excited until I found out it belonged to a guy. As for the puppets, I’m not sure why you think that I would agree with that one. Surely it’s not because of my warped sense of humor?

Family guy is great its only something I have just discovered purely by accident. The Avenue Q Musical looks like it could be a good laugh also its nice to see puppets being used to make a comedy show like that.

Yeah, we’ve had some TV shows that have tried taking advantage of that sort of thing, but the musical seems to handle it better, mainly because of their total irreverence.

Family Guy is one of my guilty pleasures. It is so wrong, yet it is so funny. And at first I was a little hurt that Josh Groban was under the funny videos, but when I saw that it is motivational, I was happy. I love his music… one of his songs will be the first dance song at my upcoming wedding.
