Nutritional Questions Answered

Posted by Mitch Mitchell on Nov 9, 2008

I feel luckier than most people because I have a friend who’s an actual food scientist. His name is Danny Chawan (his actual first name is really long, so we don’t bother to even try), his website is Srim Enterprises, and he’s one of the top food scientists in the world. He has numerous patents for all sorts of products, and he still experiments in the basement of his house and releases, mainly through other companies, products geared towards helping all of us break down foods better, make foods taste better, and overall making process flow better so that we’re all taken care of with many of the foods we eat. I’ve nicknamed him “The Food Doctor“, and I hope that sticks with the populace in some fashion.

Anyway, after months of asking him to do it, he’s finally decided to start answering some of the questions that people, including me, ask him on a regular basis. Truth be told, we can look on the internet for information and never get a proper answer, and I’ve found comfort in knowing someone who will give me the information I need when I need or, or when I’m curious about it. So there’s a new page that will answer some of those nutritional questions for us, and he’s ready for it to get even bigger than it is now.

Take a look at the beginning, where there are only 10 questions so far, and if you feel comfortable with it all, then maybe you’ll have found someone, as I have, who can help you with some of your issues. He’s also available for consulting, and if you’re really nice to him, he might bake you a loaf of bread. :-) Oh yeah; if you want to know what “Srim” means, click on the very first word of his main page; hey, I’m not supposed to make everything easy for you!

Why not get him to start his own blog so that it can be really interactive?

It’s not going to happen; it took a long time to get him to start this particular project. But I’m proud of him for going this far.

What a shame. I reckon he’s got a pretty good niche, and one that he could blog about with complete confidence.

It’s like most people when you talk to them about blogging. They worry they don’t have much to say or don’t know how to say it, so they don’t try. Hey, leaves more for you and I!

Sire Reply:

That’s true, but I reckon he would be on a winner. Maybe you could ghost write it for him and split the profits?

You know, I’ve been thinking about ghost writing blogs lately; want to get paid for it, obviously, but I’m thinking there’s companies out there that might like someone helping them with their content in that fashion.

Sire Reply:

That’s for sure Mitch, and I reckon you could do quite well at it.

I’d hope so; I figure at this juncture, with minor study, I could write on anything.

hi Mitch,
Awesome link. I like the 10 questions that Danny decided on to answer. I’ve always liked butter over margarine (in moderation of course) and now I have the scientific proof to back it up!
I tried to submit a contact form to let Danny know that on his first question I think he meant “pasta” and not “paste”. I haven’t eaten paste since kindergarden.

PS. he’s very right on high fructose corn syrup as well.
PS. Did I already say this is a great link?

I’ve always though that butter was better because of the natural vs man made argument. Like everything else moderation is definitely the key.

I’ve gone back and forth myself, Sire, which is why I asked him about it. As I said, he’s a great guy to have around for my goofy questions.

Paste; that’s funny! I never ate paste as a child, so I wouldn’t know. You said you “tried” to submit something; did it not work?

I actually wrote a post on this blog about HFCS; did you see it?

hi Mitch,
I just checked and now it says “pasta” so Dennis must have gotten the contact form I submitted.
I thought all kids tried the “kindergarten paste” as some point. I’m sure it’s harmless, or they wouldn’t have it in school.
I’ll look for your HFCS post right now.

Actually, his name is Danny, and I do his web work for him, so I went and changed it for him since you mentioned it here.

Ughhhh…
I got Danny’s name right the first time (first comment above) but then must have been thinking of “Dennis Edell” since I’d seen his comments so much here and had clicked through to his blog. My apologies. I hate when I get someone’s name wrong.
I guess we gurus don’t know everything.
Hey, didn’t you just write a post about that? Now I’ll have to read that as well. :)

PS. I will repeat for your readers that DANNY’S website and especially his “10 nutritional answers” page is well worth a visit!

Thanks Steve. Who knows, that may get him to answer a few more and allow another page of stuff. Then again, I already have questions lol
