Actually being an uncle to 2 born with Juvenile Diabetes, this does hit close to home…great post.

Thanks Rum. Been diabetic for 11 years now, so I know quite a bit about it all. The thing is that sometimes doing all the right stuff still won’t stop it from progressing, but as long as one has the chance to manage it, then you at least always have a fighting chance.

I am sorry to hear about your problem but hasten to advise you that I know a number of people who are living very productive lives by being careful with their diet, exercise and medication. There is always the hope that some cure will come up. I wish you all the best.

I ve been told by the doc that I am on the verge of being a diabetic. I ve been controlling my diet and sweating it out..thanks for the post

That’s a good point, Mike. I’m lucky that all diabetic medicines and supplies are covered under my insurance plan, at no cost yet. But not everyone is as lucky.

A family member is on metformin. Not for diabetes, but for another issue. I only bring it up because we were almost dropped by our insurance when we sent in the claim for the medication. Its hard enough to buy a decent insurance policy with all the hoops, but real easy to get dropped. Diabetes is one of those big red flags that you’d better get while you’re insured or else your screwed. Good luck.
