Li’l Specs is my wife’s side business, and I was thinking it was probably time to give her a proper introduction here. Basically, she makes custom handmade clay animal eye glass pins, and man, she’s good. She crafts these things to look like any animal one might want, and can make them in different colors if requested.
She came upon the idea for this business as she got to the point where she started needing reading glasses from time to time. One thing those of us who wear glasses all the time rarely do is lose our glasses during the day (in the morning, though, sometimes we have problems finding them after waking up) because we rarely take them off. But for people who wear reading glasses, they’re always misplacing them, even when they just need a moment to take them off to do something else then to put them back on. Sometimes they put them on their head and forget they’re there; that’s got to be pretty embarrassing also.
This is an example of what one of her creations looks like, and how one might use it. This one has glasses on it; you can request them without glasses. She makes animals, but she’s also been known to make other specialty items such as flowers, flags, or alphabetical letters. I’ve never seen her do someone’s name, but she could probably do that also, as long as it’s not a long name.
Anyway, there you are; they make great gifts, and she doesn’t charge an arm and a leg for them either, though I think she’s probably short changing herself. But she says it’s a labor of love; so be it. 🙂
