I mean, we all saw the liftoffs, and we saw them coming back. Even our government wouldn't be stupid enough to spend that kind of money lifting people off the ground and not sending them anywhere, and how would they have been able to hide putting them back up into the sky so we could see them coming back down? However, the same side faces the Earth at all times so only the Apollo astronauts have acutally seen the far side. There are photographs and mapping missions have covered the most of the Moon's surface. We were supposed to have a Moon base by the late 1990's but Nixon gutted the funding for NASA.
