Sunday Question – Who’s Your Favorite Musical Entertainer Of All Time?

This is either one of the easiest or hardest Sunday questions I’ve ever asked. I say that because, for me, there’s no content, and readers of this blog know my response already, and probably why.

Michael Jackson is my favorite entertainer of all time. I wrote the reason why on my business blog the day after he passed away. Throughout my life he just seemed to always be there when I needed a boost, and even now I can always think of a Michael Jackson song whenever I need something to help me think things through.

It’s amazing how music can touch all of our lives. I’m not sure that everyone knows when they started liking a particular musician or what song they might have heard that sparked something in themselves that they’d never ever want to give up. I know that I had heard many other songs beforehand that I liked, but wasn’t really tied into the musician.

For instance, I loved the song Daydream Believer by the Monkees, but I wasn’t a Monkees fan as far as the band was considered, though I watched the TV show. The same goes for Sugar Sugar by the Archies; loved that song, but it was a cartoon band after all. I didn’t learn until 10 years later that an actual band was traveling around in the early 70’s playing the music from that cartoon.

Anyway, that’s the question of the day. It’s not who your first musician entertainer was that you liked; it’s who your favorite is. Let’s see how you answer this one. And by the way, in lieu of an image, I share the “latest” song and video from Michael Jackson called Hold My Hand; I wonder how many of these will come out as the years go by.

  • Hi Mitch,

My favorite of all times is Whitney Houston. She is has a voice out of this world. No matter what personal battles she has, I’m a fan for life. Heck her songs helped me do well in my talent show competitions back in the day. Can you believe I would hold the mike and pat my fingers on the mike just like she does? I’m die a hard fan, always and forever.

    Take care,

    Evelyn

    • Mitch Mitchell says:

Evelyn, that will work as a great entertainer. When she was doing well, there was no one who could touch her.

  • My favorite is and always will be Metallica. I’ve been a fan for years and can listen to their music over and over again.

    • Mitch Mitchell says:

Mary, I’ll have to own up that I’m not a fan of Metallica, not because I have anything about them but because I can’t think of a single song of theirs I could begin to identify. But I know they’ve got a great body of work that could put them into the Hall of Fame.

  • Ali Mujtaba says:

My favorite band of all time has to be The Prodigy. I’m a fan since I was a kid seen them in concert a couple of times. I have all of their albums and stuff…big fan.

    • Mitch Mitchell says:

Ali, you got me on this one because I have to admit I’ve never heard of them. I’m going to assume they’re some kind of rock group, although I could be wrong.

      • Ali Mujtaba says:

They don’t really have a genre, but have styles and influences like electro, rave and punk. Pretty unique combination, that’s why I love them. They are also great live entertainers…

      • Mitch Mitchell says:

Okay, I just had to go to YouTube to check them out… a bit eccentric for my tastes lol

  • You’re right. This is a TOUGH question. How can I not say Michael Jackson BUT after seeing Prince in concert for the first time about 10 years ago, I just gained a totally new appreciation for his muusic! The man is a musical genuis and a showstopper!

    • Mitch Mitchell says:

Oh yeah, Prince was the man for some years, I’ll give you that. Course, you notice that both of these guys did these things with their bodies, then MJ ended up with back problems and Prince needs a hip transplant that he can’t get because, since he’s now Jehovah’s Witness, he’s not allowed to get blood transfusions during the procedure.

  • Jessica Sieghart says:

Wow. I have quite a few, but my all-time favorite would be Bon Jovi. I just love his voice, his songs and he always puts on a great show. I know this will sound odd, but Barry Manilow is right up there with Bon Jovi for me for the same reasons.

    • Mitch Mitchell says:

Jessica, I have all of Barry Manilow’s early albums. And I’ll say that I have a great appreciation for Jon Bon Jovi because he’s been a very decent guy all these years, and his music was pretty good as well.

  • I have have different favorite bands during different, if I can say periods of my life. I quite like “Tragically Hip”, i relate them with period just before I enter in the army. Before that it was “The Temptations”, related to period of time when I was actually making music, I even a good friend with the nephew of Eddie Kendricks. However, for all the time, probably I would say “Depeche Mode”, because I think they have always produce some radical and innovative sound, as well have been on the stage for so long and always make good songs.

    • Mitch Mitchell says:

Heard of all of them except for Tragically Hip Carl. And I was a big time Temptations fan as a kid.

      • The Hip is small Canadian band, I think they mainly perform at the clubs of New Orleans. It is interesting fact, they are the favorite band of the English queen!

  • All time favourite – Bhimsen Joshi, an Indian classical music singer who passed away just four days ago.

Western music – Frank Sinatra. My generation singer!

    • Mitch Mitchell says:

Good stuff, Rummuser. You know, we Americans don’t keep up with artists in other countries outside of classical music, but from what I read this guy was beloved over there.

    • Mitch Mitchell says:

I’ve just recently learned of Akon because of the song that was done with Michael Jackson. Bon Jovi has turned out to be a good guy; can’t go wrong there.
