Dealing With Zombies

Posted by Mitch on Nov 1, 2008
Listen with webreader

Taking a moment out for a little fun, suffice it to say that I’ve always had a problem with zombies. Way back in the day, they were slow and plodding, and those were relatively easy to handle. Yet, people always ran inside the house, and that’s how they’d eventually get caught. Nowadays, zombies are actually as fast as the rest of us, sometimes faster, and their stamina is amazing for creatures that supposedly aren’t breathing. And they think; who ever heard of thinking zombies?

Of course all of this is fanciful stuff, and yet, every once in awhile, I’ll have a zombie dream. At different stages of my life, I’ve had series of zombie dreams, and I don’t care how many psychologists say if you have a bad dream just go back to sleep, I’m not doing it because I’ve entered right back into a dream I’ve left more than once in my life.

So, is there any real escape from zombies? Well, how’s about this little video tutorial about it; I wish I’d seen this yesterday, while it was still Halloween, but it’ll work here just as well:

The slow ones back in the day were a helluva lot scarier then the funny fast ones today. LOL

Actually, they were Dennis. I don’t watch any of the ones today because, well, they’re just a bit too intense, if you know what I mean.

hi Mitch,
I’m a blogging newbie, and found your blog because of your blogging tips, but then noticed this post on zombies.
If you’ll allow me to make a recommendation, one of the funniest posts I’ve ever seen about zombies was this one:
How To Survive A Zombie Apocalypse
Makes me want to go down to Home Depot and pick up a NECROSLEDGE.

I also have the occassional zombie nightmare, but I’m lucky that they always turn lucid so that I can wake myself up! lol
Nella and I watched the video together just now and it was too funny! Can’t wait til I can make my own zombie movie. I’m almost done editing it!

I’m so glad I don’t have zombie movies anymore; man, that was a couple of tough decades for me lol

Nope, for me it’s always been vampires, and not the crap that’s coming out these days, I mean the real non friendly type that only want your blood. You certainly wouldn’t fall in love with them.

I hear you, Sire. Vampires didn’t start scaring me until I saw the movie Night Stalker lol

Sire Reply:

My first recollection of Vampires was the Bram Stoker version. A blood thirsty lot they were too.

You know, I saw that at home and I was almost bored to tears; ugh. Yeah, bloodthirsty, but I think I turned it off because I was plain ol’ bored.

Yikes! I know what you mean about Vampire movies today, Sire! One of my fav Facebook groups is “Twilight: The Story Of A Girls Choice Between Beastiality And Necrophilia”. Like Harry Potter I love that it’s getting kids to read, but I’d rather be caned than watch it!

Sire Reply:

I don’t mind Twilight too much, I just have to not think of them as vampires.

What do you think of True Blood? I think that’s what it’s called. Are those people thick or what?

I was pretty young when I saw it so perhaps that had something to do with it.

I kind of like the blade series, more so than the stuff that’s out today.

Dude, that movie came out in 1992; you weren’t THAT young! lol

I’ve never seen Blade; not even sure why I was never drawn to it.

Sire Reply:

I’m thinking of the original one that came out in 1931.

Mitch Reply:

Well, that wasn’t Bram Stoker’s. And I wasn’t scared of vampires then because they only went after women. lol

Reply

Sire Reply:

It was based on his Novel

Now see, because the 1992 movie was so dull, it never occurred to me to know that it was supposed to be based on the same thing as that original Dracula movie. Certainly didn’t seem like close to the same interpretation to me.

Reply

Sire Reply:

Not having seen the movie I can’t honestly comment on it’s interpretation Mitch. I reckon some of these remakes aren’t always the best.

That’s my thought. However, it’s possible that the second movie conformed more to the book than the original; I’m not really sure since I never read it, though.

I’ve read the book Mitch, it’s actually part of my collection.

You have a collection of vampire books? Have you read Interview With A Vampire?

Sire Reply:

The one by Anne Rice, yep it’s part of my collection of books, not all to do with Vampires though :D

Ah. We might have to compare collections, although if you don’t have any Star Trek books in your collection it’s going to be a short conversation lol

Reply

Sire Reply:

Although I’m a bit of a Star Trek fan I don’t have any of the books. Must admit I loved the original series with Spock and Kirk the best though.

I have a ton of books, I must say. Those, and old Peanuts books as well. What’s your favorite genre?

Sire Reply:

Science Fiction and my favorite author is Robert Heinlein. Then it would have to be fantasy. How about you?

Mysteries and detective stories, especially if they have at least a little bit of humor and personality in them. Of course, Star Trek books are something entirely different.

spooky:

I’m actually pretty addicted to True Blood, but I enjoy the supporting characters a lot more than Sookie & Bill. Anna Paquin has grown up to be a terrible actress and that accent she puts on for True Blood is grating! Otherwise, I love the other characters! LOL

Reply

Sire Reply:

Actually I think Sookie is hot, but I’m not impressed my Bills acting at all. Sure as hell can’t see how Sookie got involved with him.

Mitch Reply:

Yeah, I have to say that Anna Paquin might not be the best actress, but she turned out to be much hotter than I ever thought she could be. I’ve only seen a couple of shows, though; part of me doesn’t buy the concept of the show.
