I'm Just Sharing

It’s rare that CNN hears of something online before me, but this time they did, and they score big points. You probably remember when I reviewed the site Great Smiles, then followed that up with a post about the Daily Puppy and Daily Kitten. There’s just something about cuteness that I, and many other people, like.

Well, this is another site like those, and it’s called Cute Things Falling Asleep. It’s the brain child of a guy named Nick Malis, a guy with some Hollywood writing chops, including, of all things, “Nick & Jessica’s Family Christmas” (okay, I admit, my wife and I watched that, and we liked it) back in 2004.

The site is about just what the title says. He’s collected a number of videos, and accepts submissions from outside, of babies and baby animals falling asleep. They can’t already be asleep; we have to see them falling asleep. I hate saying this, but it’s the cutest thing! We all know how much babies hate going to sleep because they’re afraid they’re going to miss something (like me). Baby animals are the same way; they’ll go and go, but when it’s time to sleep, they’ll just fall over, and sometimes in some very weird places and positions (like my wife). And when you see it, well, it’s just the cutest thing (I hope I’m not losing any guy points because I keep saying that).

The one controversial thing about the site, because we all know there just has to be controversy, is that Malis rates each of the videos on their cute factor and the sleepiness factor of the baby whatever in the video. He has been contacted by some mothers who felt their child deserved a higher cute number, thinking he was putting down their child, when his motivation is only rating the cuteness factor of the child falling asleep. Personally, I might have just left that alone and set it up so that people could vote on each factor themselves.
