		<description>I feel for you, Mitch. Been there, done that.

As computers and operating systems get more complex, it becomes easier to make these kinds of mistakes.

Also, as we gather more files and larger files, it takes more time to make full backups, so we tend to avoid them for things we think we know how to do.

I&#039;ve learned the hard way to make backups before doing anything involving modifying operating systems and that generally means that I have to set aside at least twice as much time as I expect before starting the process.

This even applies to doing things like updating blog software. We only learn how important backups and proper procedures are after we&#039;ve just done something to destroy days, or even years, of hard work.

It&#039;s great that you were able to get help from one of your Twitter followers. I wouldn&#039;t have thought about that.

I hope you&#039;re able to restore everything. Best of luck with this.
