Thing is Carl, you can just create an ebook and market it that way until you make enough money to turn it into a real book, which is what I did.

I have 2 poetry books and the last step is always difficult. Finding a sponsor is pretty important. I know that I am not gonna get rich writing, but it is impossible to do it with my own financing.

Hi Dina; thanks for commenting. I think you've kind of missed my point. I purchased 10 ISBN numbers because I wanted 10 numbers; I could have bought one. I also purchased 300 books because I wanted 300 books; I could have gone a different direction. Every step of the way, I chose exactly what I wanted to do; I didn't make a single mistake. My plan didn't fall apart; it's what I picked on purpose. Also remember that all these sites that are here now weren't around when I did this, but the few that were, I wasn't interested in. I'd never go for a Publish America route; doesn't interest me. I still get 100% of my profits, but I have so many more options, at a lesser cost overall, than someone else might have.

Still, people make their choices and go their own way. That's what makes the world a pretty good place.

You might have taken a look at publishandmarket.com - you could have bought a single ISBN, they would have done professional cover and text design, as well as editing and you could have had them set you up with Ingram for distribution, which is where your plan fell apart, sounds like...at least you wouldn't still have 150 books. You would have kept ownership of the book and got 100% of the profit. Not a bad deal when you truly want to self-publish.
