My mother is Helga Curtis and tells me all the time about first time writers who immediately think they can publish - and then she says what they need is an agent, and they're tough to get. She's written and published several story and quilting books and is working on two more right now (at the age of 89!), but she's written columns in newspapers and had articles published in magazines prior to this for many years. Your advice is right on, Mitch. If you're going to write, make sure you've got enough for just one book, and that your genre (or niche) is large enough. Thanks for the great article.
