Marketing And The NFL

Posted by Mitch on Jan 12, 2008

It’s a big football weekend, as we work our way towards the Super Bowl. Right now, I”m watching the Green Bay Packers beating the Seattle Seahawks in a snowstorm; I’m used to that sort of thing where I live.

The NFL has become the number one professional sports organization in the United States. It’s all about marketing. No sport hits harder, runs faster, or has as much time to be scrutinized as football. It’s fairly amazing because the players are also the lowest paid overall when compared to other sports. That’s what happens when you have 45 players on a team versus 12 for basketball or even 25 for baseball.

Still, it’s all about marketing. Who remembers just how popular baseball was in the early 70’s because they had the better marketing machine, even though most teams were eliminated from the playoff chase by the beginning of September? And the thing is, you still see all the faces of baseball players; football has done it even with the faces of their players hidden.

So, who wants some football gear? Yeah, I’m a Cowboys fan, but they have this stuff for other teams also. Take a look at what’s below:
