Things You Never Knew Existed

Posted by Mitch on Dec 30, 2007

Talk about some unique stuff. I came across this site and just had to market their stuff because it’s so unique. It’s called Things You Never Knew Existed, and it’s a site that has all sorts of weird, funny, and wonderful stuff that you just won’t find elsewhere.

As you look at my sales pages for these items, you’ll see some gadget items and some DVD movie compilations you’ll never find in any of the big video stores. A couple of them offer 50 genre movies for less than $20; are you kidding me? And the gadget things are items that you’ve never known you needed until you see them.

Of course, my page is just a sample, so I give you a link to go look at other things if you can’t find anything on my page that you like. But I know you’ll be intrigued; take a look around.

Black People Who Have Embarrassed Black America, Part Two

Posted by Mitch on Dec 26, 2007

I just finished reading this blog entry from a guy who calls himself HoustonNY titled Black People Who Have Embarrassed Black America, and I have to say he pretty much got it right on the head, though I will always defend Michael Jackson to the end; long history there.

However, he’s a relatively young man (okay, born in the 70’s, but still,…), and I think there’s more that has to be added to this list. Oh yeah, for those that don’t know it, I’m black myself, and I’ve been embarrassed by a lot of things that I keep to myself. But, well, it’s time; so,…

Isiah Thomas, for saying that it’s okay for black men to call black women the “B” word, but not for white people to call them that.

Kayne West, for being a punk because he thinks more about himself than others think about him.

Nas, for being immature to believe that naming his next album the “N” word is a good thing.

Ward Connerly, for thinking that the only way to make things balanced in the world is to make it harder for black people; how much can one man hate his own race (oh yeah, I keep forgetting about Clarence Thomas).

Onterrio Smith, for bringing the term “whizzinator” into the American lexicon.

Naomi Campbell and Foxy Brown, for not remembering that their rappers, nothing special, and that they don’t have the right to hit others and think they can get away with it. At least Li’l Kim was an adult about it all.

Bill Cosby, not for the message that he’s putting out now, but for how he’s doing it.

DMX, who can’t seem to understand that he not only can’t own any guns, but can’t take them with him to airports.

Troi Torain, the NYC DJ who said he wanted to kill another man’s wife and sexually molest his 4 year old while on the air, and the people who are bringing him back on the air.

Lawrence Phillips, a football player with lots of talent but no understanding that one can’t go around beating up women.

O.J. Simpson, who used up his Get Out Of Jail Card and still found his way back in; I guess he likes the food.

Marion Jones, for making us all believe you were just so much more talented than everyone else, smiling all the way to all those endorsements, then slamming us all on the back end. People want to slam Barry Bonds for alleged steroids use, but even if he did it, it wasn’t illegal in his sport; it was in yours.

The Playa’s Ball; I mean, an awards show for pimps?

Marcus Wesson, who killed 9 of his own family members, some of them born because of incest he caused.

Colin Ferguson, who shot 32 people on a train in New Jersey, saying he didn’t want to kill any of them while in New York in tribute to the black mayor at the time, David Dinkins

I think that’s enough; I’m depressing myself. Thanks HoustonNY!

Apple Store

Posted by Mitch on Dec 24, 2007

No, I don’t own a Mac, but one can’t deny that the people at Apple have made some incredible stuff over the years. Well, off one of my sales sites, I now have the exhibit page for the Apple Store, and I hope I’ve selected enough of the cross section of items they market so that it highlights the types of things they sell, including the new iPhone, which many love.

Marketing at this time of year is tough, because people want their stuff on time, but with so much going through UPS and the like, who can guarantee when anything will come. For instance, there’s a manual I need that’s supposedly been on its way for a week or so; nothing yet. But one doesn’t stop marketing; one just continues putting the word out there, because it’s possible that someone might decide it’s just what they want anyway, and won’t mind having to wait for it.

Ah yes, the life of marketing! I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.

The Harry Potter Series

Posted by Mitch on Dec 22, 2007

Harry Potter is the best selling series of books in history, and made its writer, J. K. Rowlings, a billionaire; absolutely amazing. There’s a great review of the entire thing hereif you don’t know much about the stories.

Of course, like most adults who were open minded enough to give it a try, I got into the series the wrong way. I started with book #5, rather than from the beginning, before I had seen the first movie; don’t ask me how that worked. Then I listened to book #3 and #4 before I saw the second movie, and then book #6 and, finally, book #7. At that point I thought I was pretty knowledgeable about everything, but thought more about it and realized that there was no way I could have been, because in the last two books, there were names mentioned that I didn’t know.

So, I decided to start from the beginning, the first book, and work my way back through the entire series. And, instead of reading them, I decided to listen to them instead. The reader of the books on tape, or CD, is named Jim Dale, and he’s a supreme reader, one of the best I’ve ever heard, as I listen to a lot of books on tape, as I’m on the road often. I would recommend to anyone who really wants to see just how well these books were written, and what all the hubbub is about, should do the same thing. Yeah, the first book really is a lot of kid stuff, but after that, the books start touching upon some adult themes. You’ve just got to read this stuff; trust me here.

And, now, maybe I’m good enough to play the game below. :-)

Some Diabetes Information

Posted by Mitch on Dec 20, 2007

Unfortunately, I have to put diabetes at the top of my illness list. Actually, it’s the only thing on my illness list, so I guess I can be happy about that. However, I’m also now on insulin, and I’m nowhere close to happy about that.

Often, we get these diseases, and we get some information, but it’s never all the information we’re looking for, or need. So, I’m going to share a couple of things here, just in case you happen to have the same malady.

First, your glucose numbers can be affected by not getting enough sleep. Over my ten years, I’ve noticed that if I get little or no sleep, which happens often for me, my morning fasting number is going to be high. I learned that those with sleep apnea will have high numbers, and I have a little bit of that.

Second, there’s more than one type of insulin. I’ll admit that I’m not really sure why, but I do know that my first insulin, Levemir, had additives in it that gave me a rash. It also had this scent of bandages, of all the odd things, and I was told that was so you knew whether you’d injected yourself properly or not. I’m unsure of that one also, as I seemed to have that scent whether I did it right or not.

That’s number three. You can inject yourself incorrectly. I’ve made two mistakes to warn you of. One, you have to try to make sure you push straight in, not at an angle. The second, if you even slightly touch yourself with the needle, either change the needle or get ready for some pain. I don’t know why I do it, but every once in awhile it’s like I’m doing a test puncture, will pull it out, then push it back in. The needles are very fine so they don’t hurt, per se, but that also means they’re delicate, so if you push a second time, they’ve already been damaged.

Number four, there are many places one can inject themselves. Some of them my mind is trying to think of how you could still do it and inject yourself, which of course means you’d have to have help, and that’s just not happening with me. Others may be fine, but it turns out there’s a reason for knowing this. I developed a rash from the Levemir, so I was changed to something called Lantus. No additives, no scent. However, my rash never went away, so I first talked to my nurse educator, who recommended I try another area. Then I did some research online, especially on the Lantus, and there I learned that they recommend that you not inject in specifically the same area for a couple of days. For instance, one recommendation as it concerns the stomach is to view it as a clock and rotate around it, so that it gives the injected areas time to heal. Same with the legs and arms if you go that route. I know now that’s where I made my mistake, as I picked pretty much two areas and kept injecting only in those places. Now I’m going to set up a routine where I move it around to at least six different spots, to help me overcome some of the swelling and lumps I’ve got now.

So, there you go. I may drop more hints as to what’s going on with me as time goes, or just general information as I learn it. After all, we need to try to make sure we share information as possible, right?

Mariah And Brenda; I Still Believe

Posted by Mitch on Dec 19, 2007

I’m a big time Mariah Carey fan. It’s no secret to any of my friends, or my wife. I told my wife that if Mariah Carey came to the house and said she needed me right then and there, I’d have to go with her, but I’d tell my wife all about it when I got back home. Course, I also told her that Mariah would have to sing a couple of songs to me before I broke down and became hers for the moment.

This is one of those songs. I Still Believe was one of her first big hits that didn’t go to number one, peaking at #4 in 1999; how the heck did that happen? Anyway, below is the video to that song, but then there’s more:

Mariah Carey used to be the background singer for Brenda K. Starr, the person who first did this song back in 1988. I remember this as being the top slow jam at the clubs back then, when we’d come out of the fast stuff and they’d slow it down so the majority of the people could run to the bathroom or get drinks. She was hot also, and this song was great, in my opinion, but she was only able to take it to #13 herself; oh well,… Anyway, it’s amazing how close both songs sound, and, in a weird way, how much the two women look alike; or maybe I’m just blind. Anyway, here’s her version, so you can compare the two.

I think both are great, and I’m glad to be able to share these, courtesy of YouTube of course.

Today Was A Good Day

Posted by Mitch on Dec 16, 2007

Today was a pretty good business day, I must say. I’m shocked because it’s Sunday, and there was a snowstorm most of the day.

What made the day go so well? I landed a nice contract with one of my businesses that will either bring in nice money or big money, depending on whether they accept the entire contract or only a portion right now. It’s still pretty nice.

Then I was requested to participate in another program come the summer that will bring in a nice bit of change, and this is based on another area that I provide services for. That one hasn’t been totally secured, as someone else is negotiating it, but it looks promising.

I got to cash in a lottery ticket today also. No, I didn’t win the big lottery, but for once I won more than I actually paid out, so that’s a good thing.

And I sold an online item today; that’s an even bigger deal to me. I’m going to tell the truth on this blog as it pertains to some of my online marketing projects, including my AdSense performance (though, by rule, I’m not allowed to say here specifically how much I make), and I can say that I’m not making a living online by any means. Still, I get a check here and there, and my earnings are increasing rather than stagnating or going backwards, so there’s always hope.

And, if my online businesses ever really take off, I won’t have to work on Sundays anymore! :-)

Natural Search Works

Posted by Mitch on Dec 14, 2007

There’s been this debate in the SEO community, of which I’m a minor member, as to whether it’s better to submit your website to all the search engines to help them find you, or just to wait and let it happen naturally. In the past, whenever I’ve created a website, I’ve always submitted it, just to make certain, but this was before the debates came up. I decided not to with this site, just to see what might happen.

Well, I’m happy to say that, in just a few days, Google has found me. And, if I put the name of my blog in, it comes up in the 3rd position; that’s kind of neat. Now, that is only Google, because it still hasn’t shown up on Yahoo, MSN, or Ask, but Google’s the big dog, which this kind of proves.

Of course, the thing about a blog is that it’s not only always new content, but it also isn’t easy to optimize when you’re kind of all over the place. Still, it’s nice to know that I do hae a chance to compete, since they’ve also indexed my first few pages.

Ultra Diamonds, via Services and Stuff

Posted by Mitch on Dec 12, 2007

One of my sales sites is called Services and Stuff. It’s actually supposed to be kind of a web portal for businesses that provide either services or sell products, and I have to admit that I’m surprised more people haven’t contacted me asking to link their businesses, since it’s free, but so be it.

Also on the site, I have these affiliate links and tags all over the place, trying to make a buck, and I’m doing okay, but I can do better. So, one of the things I’m starting to do, as I can, is, with some of these links to actually companies, selecting some of their best products and creating a page for them, so that if people click on the link off the front page, it’ll take them to kind of a sample page, where they can either purchase something I’m showing them, or, if they like the types of things I’m marketing but not specifically anything I’ve selected, can go to the actual site and look around, possibly buy, and I still make some money off that.

Hey, we all must have a dream, correct? Anyway, this is the first site I’ve done it for, so if you get a chance take a look at this Ultra Diamonds page of mine off that site. I’ve shown some people this page, and the ladies love the products, so guys, maybe this is your in! And, I’ve done a mix of expensive and relatively inexpensive, to show the range of prices of items this site has. Enjoy.
